La description ci-dessous est donnée par l'établissement dans la langue de travail de celui-ci.

At Vancouver Island University, personal success is at the core of the student experience. Caring, attentive and encouraging faculty are behind students every step of the way. Smaller class sizes offer opportunities for student interests and passions to be recognized by faculty. VIU aims to foster an environment that combines academic accomplishments with social and relationship skills and each student’s desire to make a difference in their community.

Located on beautiful Vancouver Island on the traditional territory of the Coast Salish peoples, the university’s main campus is located in Nanaimo. There are regional campuses in the Cowichan Valley and qathet Region (Powell River) and a centre in Parksville-Qualicum. For those interested in coastal and marine research, the Deep Bay Marine Field Station is equipped with state-of-the-art labs and a seawater tank near an estuarine ecosystem. The station also includes the Centre for Seafood Innovation, which provides further opportunities for student engagement and research.
