St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) is one of Canada’s oldest and most prestigious universities. StFX students thrive in an intimate learning environment that nurtures the development of the whole person. Here, the focus is on the academic and personal development of every student.

A primarily undergraduate university of about 5,000 students, located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, StFX is known for its exceptional teaching and research, vibrant student life, close-knit community, and opportunities for faculty and students to make a difference locally and in communities across the globe. StFX is truly a national university, with over half its student population coming from beyond Atlantic Canada.

The university is a member of the Maple League, a group of top-ranked universities committed to putting undergraduate education first. StFX values community development, social justice and global awareness. It is home to the world-renowned Coady Institute, a centre of excellence in community-based development and leadership education. In 1996, StFX pioneered Canada’s first Service Learning program and remains a leader in experiential education.
