Established in 1965 on B.C.’s scenic west coast, Simon Fraser University is Canada’s most community-engaged research university, with three thriving urban campuses.
SFU consistently ranks among Canada’s top comprehensive universities and pioneered an open, inclusive approach to higher education that fuels learning, discovery, community outreach and global connectedness.
SFU offers a vast array of programs across eight faculties: Applied Sciences; Arts and Social Sciences; Business; Communication, Art and Technology; Education; Environment; Health Sciences; and Science. In addition, SFU offers students a range of experiential opportunities such as work-integrated learning, international field schools and exchanges, and the innovative Undergraduate Semester in Dialogue focusing on social and civic issues.
The original campus, designed by renowned Canadian architects Arthur Erickson and Geoffrey Massey, now includes more than 36 academic buildings as well as the Trottier Observatory and the new Compute Canada facility containing Cedar, one of four new Canadian supercomputing and data centres.
In 1989, SFU opened its Harbour Centre campus in the heart of Vancouver’s financial district. The campus now includes the Segal Graduate School of Business, the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue and the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts. The Surrey campus, designed by famed architect Bing Thom and opened in 2002, continues to grow and is helping to revitalize Surrey’s downtown core.
