First Nations University of Canada, established in 1976, is the first First Nations controlled university in Canada and a leader in Indigenous-based education.

First Nations University of Canada incorporates Indigenous worldviews and knowledge into all aspects of the university. It aims to give First Nations, Métis and other Indigenous learners the greatest opportunity to succeed in their education and, in turn, to strengthen their communities through their accomplishments.
